Currently I am working on 6 oil paintings for an exhibition next summer. In this exhibition I will work together with the Hortus Botanicus in Leiden to tell the story of sidewalk plants. A wide variety of plant species flower between tiles and bricks. They help to retain water, cool down the city and attract insects and birds. It is a shame that hardly anyone notices them, as they have such an important ecological role and are often very beautiful as well!
Each painting shows a different type of pavement, with their own plants that break the geometrical pattern.
